What we alter
Every gown is built differently. These are the alterations brides ask for most, and your consultation is where we work out exactly what yours needs.
Book a consultation- Hems
- Floor-length, high-low and trains, including lace, horsehair and layered tulle hems. Measured in your wedding shoes so the gown skims the floor.
- Bustles
- American bustles fold the train over the skirt, French bustles tuck it under for a soft double layer, and ballroom bustles flip it under so it disappears. You’ll get the one that suits your gown, and a lesson for whoever bustles you on the day.
- Fit and resizing
- Taking in every seam, even two or three sizes down. When a gown runs small, added side panels and a corset back can make room.
- Redesigns
- Strapless to sleeves and back again: flutter and swoop sleeves, added straps, lace filled in at the neckline, open backs covered with mesh, lace and buttons, and custom modesty linings.
- Mom’s dress, made yours
- Refitting and restyling heirloom gowns, with lace and pearls stitched back by hand. Changes can be made reversible so the dress can be passed down again.
- Support and finishing
- Added cups, clear boning for support under sheer bodices, lace and beading repairs, and removable bows made from the hem scraps.
- Bridesmaids, mothers and prom
- Bridesmaid, mother-of-the-bride, prom and other formal dresses.

Meet Kristi, your wedding dresser
Kristi Clark has been altering wedding gowns for more than 15 years. Before moving to the Dallas area in 2026, she fitted brides across Springfield, Missouri, and was honored with two awards at the 2024 Metropolitan Wedding Expo.
Her work ranges from a simple hem to the changes you can’t buy off the rack: taking Mom’s dress down three sizes and hand-stitching the pearls back on, rebuilding a bodice so it fits like it was made for you, or giving a strapless gown flutter sleeves in matching lace.

Questions brides ask
Anything else? Send us a question.
When should I book my alterations?
About 3 to 4 months before your wedding, or as soon as you know your dress delivery date. Spring through fall dates fill up, so earlier is better. If your wedding is sooner, send your date. There are never rush fees.
Can you tell me if a dress can be altered before I buy it?
Yes. Send photos or set up a FaceTime call. This matters most when a dress is more than one size off. Some gowns can be let out with added side panels and a corset back, but not all of them.
How much do wedding dress alterations cost?
Consultations are free. The cost depends on what your gown needs and how it’s built: covered boning, piping, lace, beading and mesh side panels can make some changes more involved. You’ll know the price before any work begins.
Do you charge rush fees?
No, never.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Your gown, your wedding shoes (or a pair the same height), the bra or shapewear you plan to wear, and any belt, veil or accessories. The fit depends on all of them.
Can you alter my mom’s wedding dress?
Yes. Heirloom gowns can be resized, restyled and updated, and changes can be made reversible so the dress can be passed down again.
Do you alter gowns bought somewhere else or online?
Yes. Bring a gown from any bridal shop, sample sale or online store.
Do you alter bridesmaid, mother-of-the-bride and prom dresses?
Yes. Book a consultation and mention the dress in your booking notes.
